The MMORPG genre has several points that differentiate it from other genres and I will list here some points with very important systems for the genre.


Economy:


The games generate a complex and dynamic economic system, this dynamism will be created by the players themselves who will heat up the market and prices will fluctuate along with supply and demand, this way players actively participate in the economy by selling or buying equipment, mission items, pets or even services. In addition to being able to produce items, collect and drop materials and items that can be traded within the game.




Build system:


It is a very important system within MMORPG because it allows the player to customize and optimize their character according to their preferences and playstyle. Usually, a variety of choices are included, whether by equipment, status, talents, passives or skills, so that the player can build archetypes with positive and negative points that can play different roles, whether to cause more damage or take more damage for example, thus generating various probabilities and changing the gameplay considerably.




The concept of freedom:


The feeling of freedom felt by the player when playing an MMORPG is due to the possibility of character choice and customization, as well as the variety of activities and missions available. Players can choose their own routes and strategies to complete missions, actively participate in the game's economy, and can also interact with other players freely and spontaneously. This creates a sense of freedom and immersion in the game. In addition, it is possible to feel the freedom to communicate with other players, whether cooperatively or competitively, and to explore a vast virtual world full of possibilities.




Feeling that the game has no end:


The feeling that the game has no end is very important because the player is not playing a game with a character that has a story and that is linear, the character is participating in a universe that has its story, in this way the player is building his own story and participating in the story of the universe presented in the MMORPG, and as an MMORPG it is always passing through expansions the player will always have new things to discover, feel and participate within the universe.


Mechanics:


The mechanics within MMORPG can be diverse in many ways, of course, which greatly determines the style of gameplay. Taking two distinct games as examples, Dofus has a more tactical mechanic using turns, but with a system of builds with rich variations, it makes the gameplay even more tactical and strategic. This differs significantly from Black Desert Online, which has a more frenetic action combat system with a build system that is not as rich but has mechanics for skill combos. These are very different mechanics, but they work very well in the proposal of their respective games, and with different proposals, there are different experiences.
