Is game art?

Yes! Games are art and represent the 10th art form.

Art is a manifestation of beings, and it can contain a thought, a critique, or a feeling. Art can be visually manifested, sonically, performed as in theater, movement as in dance, or even a combination of arts tied to a concept, a story, and a unique or ludic experience as in cinema or games.

A game is a combination of artistic elements, adhered to the concept of ludic. These elements will compose the audiovisual of a game and the gameplay experience.

Ludic has a very important role within the game and it is responsible for making a game immersive, fun, challenging, and rewarding. It is responsible for making it possible for a person to interact within the game, interact within a story, and submerge the player into a unique universe.

Just like in cinema, which has a set of arts, such as acting and music, can convey a critique and also a feeling. It is a form of entertainment just like a game, but neither cinema nor game is just a combination of audiovisuals. Behind it, there is a concept, a story, an experience, feelings, and there can also be a critique.

Some of the arts that compose a game, such as graphic art and soundtrack, are very important in the development of a game.

The artistic importance within a game:

Within a game, the first things that a player will pay attention to are the visual and sound arts. Because they are related to the two most important human senses, vision and hearing, humans are always using their senses, and this helps with the player's comprehension and immersion. Like in the game Ori and the Blind Forest, there is a perfect combination of audiovisuals and gameplay mechanics, all tied to a compelling story and experience, making it not just beautiful and enjoyable but a work of art with unique experiences.

Critique and feeling in a game:

Like cinema, games can express a reflection on a subject, a critique of something, or convey feelings. A good example of this is Hideo Kojima's game Death Stranding, which presents a very interesting reflection and a strong critique on society, in addition to various emotions proposed in the game, such as players supporting each other's journey and not giving up in the face of difficulties that arise during gameplay. It also has a perfect soundtrack that enhances the player's sensitivity and experience, along with beautiful art with unique concepts. Death Stranding is a masterpiece to be enjoyed..
